Nutrition and Your Health
There is a direct link between nutrition and your health. Isn't that what dotors have said for years? We just don't always listen. I this article I will give you some examples of foods that will contribute to your good health. This is not written in stone, but this is what I have found personally and what I have learned from nutritionist and doctors that I have talked to, I hope that it will help you to change your eating habits.
Vitamins, fiber, minerals, fats all of these and more are needed to keep your body running well.Studies have suggested that you are better off getting these from food instead of suppliments. That is not to say the suppliments are not good or useful but nature seems to know just what we need and how we need it.
Vitamins are in just about every fruit and vegetable that you eat. Some have more than others but they all have something good to offer your body. Apples for example are not very high in vitamins but they are packed with fiber. Oranges are packed with vitamin C, bananas are packed with potassium and fiber, apricots contain carotene.
Carotene is an important nutrient, it is proven to help gaurd aganinst cancer found in orange foods such as carrots and sweet potatoes. Potassium is an important mineral that helps regulate blood pressure, fiber also helps regulate cholesterol both of which are found in bananas. The list goes on.
Green beans are rich in iron, dry beans are inexpesive and full of fiber. The truth is we all know this, so why do we continue to ignore the obvious? Human nature I suppose, we are after all creatures of habit. It is so easy these days to find whatever we need to know about out health and what is good for our bodies. I have some one close to me who has diabetes. This could be contolled simply by eating right, but she refuses to see the obvious. The doctors have explained to her the consequences yet she goes on. I do understand that for some people, it really doesn't matter if they only eat salad they will still have diabetes because it is genetic. For these people I am very sorry, but for the ones that can help themselves just by changing a few things I really have no words.

Think Fruits and Vegetables!
Good nutrition and healthy eating go hand in hand you can’t have one without the other. I understand that it seems that the guidelines for good nutrition seem to change daily, but by using some common sense when choosing your food it can go a long way toward good health, and here are some nutrition basics to follow.
When it comes to nutrition it is important that we understand the basics of the food groups, and what their role is in our diet. If you would like a more specific and personalized source of dietary advice you should contact your doctor. People vary, from lifestyle, health status, and activity so no two people are the same. However, here are some basic things to take into account.
You should always eat a variety of foods from the basic food groups, such as fruits, vegetables, dairy, whole grains, lean protein, and healthy fats. Always keeping in mind the guidelines for serving size, we as Americans tend to overeat just about everything because serving sizes are so large.
When choosing your foods always keep in mind your health status, do you have high blood pressure, or diabetes? If so, talk to your doctor about what you should and should not be eating.
Healthy cooking is one way to help with healthy eating, we all know that one of the best pleasures in life is food; at least it is for me. When preparing food we should keep in mind that it is the heart of family gatherings, and celebrations. We should enjoy our food, but try to stay away from the high calorie, salty and fatty foods that will harm our health and drag us down. When you learn how to cook healthy you will in turn, be helping your family to avoid some health problems.
It is not hard to find interesting and healthy cook books, when you are getting ready to go to the grocery store look over some of these cook books and choose some healthy recipes. Once you have done that, make a list of what you will need to complete the recipe always keeping in mind healthy shopping and healthy ingredients for you and your family.
Do you feel the need for nutritional supplements? If so, you should understand that supplements are not meant to replace healthy eating, but to enhance it or to support it. If you are eating healthy you will most likely not need supplements with the exception of older people who may not get enough vitamin B-12 in their diets.
It is important that you eat a healthy diet; this will elevate many different health problems in your future. Think healthy, think fruits, vegetables!
